Molekul tersebut akan membentuk suatu susunan ruang-ruang atom yang dikenal dengan <\/span><strong>Geometri Molekul<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Geometri Molekul tersebut dipengaruhi oleh pasangan elektron terikat <\/span><strong>(PEI<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), pasangan elektron bebas <\/span><strong>(PEB),<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> dan <\/span><strong>domain elektron<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Untuk mengetahui PEI, PEB, dan domain elektron, Quipperian harus bisa menggambarkan <\/span><strong>struktur lewis<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> pada suatu senyawa. <\/span><strong>Struktur lewis<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> adalah struktur yang menggambarkan bagaimana keadaan elektron-elektron valensi atom-atom saling berpasangan dan saling berikatan secara kovalen. Di dalam struktur lewis terdapat PEI dan PEB.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pasangan elektron terikat (PEI<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) adalah pasangan elektron yang terikat antara atom pusat dengan atom lain secara kovalen. Sedangkan <\/span><strong>Pasangan elektron bebas (PEB)<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> adalah pasangan elektron bebas pada atom pusat yang tidak terikat dengan atom lain, dan <\/span><strong>domain elektron<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> adalah total dari pasangan elektron terikat dan bebas. Teori VSEPR<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bunyi <\/span><strong>teori VSEPR<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> adalah pasangan elektron dalam ikatan kimia ataupun pasangan elektron yang tidak dipakai bersama (yaitu pasangan elektron \u201cmandiri\u201d) saling tolak-menolak, pasangan elektron cenderung untuk berjauhan satu sama lain. Teori ini menggambarkan arah pasangan elektron terhadap inti suatu atom. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gaya tolak-menolak antara dua pasang elektron akan semakin kuat dengan semakin kecilnya jarak antara kedua pasang elektron tersebut. Gaya tolakan akan semakin kuat jika sudut di antara kedua pasang elektron tersebut besarnya 90<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Tidak hanya itu, tolakan yang melibatkan pasangan elektron tunggal lebih kuat daripada yang melibatkan pasangan ikatan. Teori Domain Elektron<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Teori Domain Elektron<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> adalah penyempurnaan dari teori VSEPR. <\/span><strong>Domain elektron<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> artinya kedudukan suatu elektron atau daerah keberadaan elektron, dapat ditentukan dengan jumlah domain sebagai berikut:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Setiap elektron ikatan (ikatan tunggal, rangkap 2, atau rangkap 3) mempunyai 1 domain.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Setiap pasangan elektron bebas mempunyai nilai 1 domain.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prinsip-prinsip dasar dari Teori domain elektron adalah sebagai berikut:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1. Antar domain elektron pada atom pusat saling tolak-menolak sehingga mengatur diri sedemikian rupa sehingga tolakannya menjadi minimum.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2.
