Ilmuwan satu ini diprediksi hidup di zaman 287 \u2013 212 sebelum Masehi. Sebagai seorang ilmuwan besar di zaman itu, Archimedes mampu menguasai beberapa bidang sekaligus, mulai Matematika, Fisika, Filsafat, Astronomi, dan Teknik. Kisah Archimedes mulai dikenal setelah ia diminta oleh Raja Hiero II untuk membuktikan kemurnian emas mahkota milik sang raja.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mendapatkan tugas seperti itu, Archimedes tidak tinggal diam. Ia berpikir keras untuk memecahkan masalah ini. Oleh karena tak kunjung mendapatkan solusi, Archimedes kesal lalu menceburkan dirinya ke dalam bak mandi. Saat ia masuk ke dalam bak mandi yang penuh dengan air, ternyata ada air yang tumpah ke lantai. Berbekal dari hal sepele itulah kemudian Archimedes berhasil membuktikan kemurnian emas milik sang raja. Bagaimana caranya?&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Archimedes memasukkan mahkota ke dalam air. Perubahan volume air akibat adanya mahkota tersebut dijadikan dasar untuk mencari massa jenis, yaitu membagi massa mahkota dengan besarnya perubahan volume air. Massa jenis yang ia peroleh dari hasil percobaan itu disamakan dengan massa jenis emas murni. Teknologi perkapalan<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kapal laut merupakan salah satu alat transportasi yang terbuat dari besi bermassa ratusan kilogram. Bagaimana bisa kapal laut tidak tenggelam di dalam air laut, padahal kan massa jenis besi jauh lebih besar daripada massa jenis air? Ternyata, bagian tengah kapal laut memiliki rongga udara, <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lho<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Rongga ini bertujuan untuk menampung udara sebanyak-banyaknya agar volume kapal bisa semakin besar.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dengan demikian, massa jenis kapal menjadi lebih kecil dari massa jenis air laut. Jika massa jenis kapal laut sudah dipastikan lebih kecil daripada massa jenis air laut, kapal akan mengapung.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>2.
