Sebelum menemukan hukum interaksi antarmuatan listrik, Coulomb sudah melakukan banyak penelitian, mulai dari pembuatan kompas, pembuatan timbangan puntir, membuat karya kelistrikan dan kemagnetan, dan masih banyak lainnya. Beberapa karya Coulomb tentang listrik dan magnet dijadikan dasar penelitian dan penemuan oleh ilmuwan setelahnya, seperti Hans Christian Oersted, Marie Ampere, hingga Henry Cavendish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Kapan Terjadinya Hukum Coulomb?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hukum Coulomb terjadi jika dua muatan listrik terpisah pada jarak tertentu, sehingga muatan-muatan tersebut akan berinteraksi seperti halnya kutub-kutub magnet yang saling didekatkan. Jika muatan sejenis didekatkan, keduanya akan saling tolak menolak. Jika muatan tidak sejenis didekatkan, keduanya akan saling tarik menarik. Mengapa bisa terjadi demikian? Karena saat penggaris kamu gosokkan ke rambut, penggaris akan bermuatan negatif. Oleh karena kertas bermuatan positif, maka akan terjadi peristiwa tarik menarik antara penggaris dan mika. Akibatnya, cacahan kertas akan menempel pada penggaris. Semakin dekat jarak antara penggaris dan kertas, semakin besar gaya Coulomb yang dihasilkan, sehingga semakin banyak kertas yang menempel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Terjadinya petir akibat peristiwa tarik menarik antara muatan positif di bagian atas awan dan di bagian bawah awan. Itulah mengapa, gedung-gedung pencakar langit umumnya memiliki penangkal petir.
